Renewable Resources
Renewable resources, including forests, soils, water, and fisheries, play a crucial role in environmental peacebuilding efforts. These resources can promote stability, reconstruction, and development, and effective management can lead to more equitable distribution of resource revenues, ensuring peaceful and long-term growth. On the other hand, the management of renewable resources can also be a source of conflict, particularly in areas where ethnic, regional, or class tensions already exist. In such cases, the depletion or degradation of renewable resources can exacerbate existing tensions, leading to further conflict and instability.M&E can help to manage these risks and opportunities by assessing the impact of renewable resource management on local communities and the environment. Through effective M&E, practitioners can identify potential conflicts and take proactive measures to mitigate negative consequences.
