Extractive Resources
Extractive Resources are a critical component of many countries' economic development plans, providing valuable resources such as oil, gas, minerals, and timber. These resources can have a transformative impact on a country's development trajectory, creating jobs, generating revenue, and stimulating further economic progress. However, in some cases, extractive resource extraction might play a key role in triggering, escalating, or sustaining violent conflicts.M&E can help ensure that the extraction of these resources is done in a sustainable and responsible manner. This involves tracking the extraction process, assessing the impacts on the environment and local communities, and monitoring the revenues generated by the extraction. One of the key benefits of M&E is that it provides valuable information that can be used to improve the management of extractive resources. By monitoring the extraction process, it is possible to identify areas where improvements can be made to reduce the environmental and social impacts.
