Economic Recovery

Economic Recovery

Humanitarian aid, security, economic recovery, and political reconciliation are often seen as pressing issues in post-conflict settings. Natural resources play a crucial role in the economy of post-conflict countries, and sustainable resource management practices are key to supporting economic growth, livelihood improvement, and state-building. Environmental peacebuilding efforts often focus on seeking to transform conflict and consolidate peace. Hence, environmental peacebuilding practices, especially effective and equitable management of natural resources, have the potential to transform post-conflict countries by supporting economic growth, recovery and state-building.M&E frameworks help ensure that economic recovery is equitable, inclusive, and socially and environmentally sustainable along with considering the needs and perspectives of marginalized communities, including women and indigenous groups. Besides, effective governance is essential for creating an enabling environment for economic recovery and for ensuring that economic benefits are distributed fairly across society. M&E frameworks that track progress on governance and political stability can help to ensure that economic recovery efforts are effective and sustainable.
